Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has offered an automatic teaching job to a blind person, Dahuru Idris, who was teaching voluntarily in the state.
This was contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Abba Anwar in Kano.
According to the statement, Ganduje directed that Idris be posted to Tudun Maliki Special Education School shortly after he was led by Commissioner of Education, Muhammadu Sanusi Kiru to meet and chat with the governor.
“You are a real model, whose visual impairment does not stand as a stumbling block for your development,” Ganduje commended.
“You are taking the right step in your life. The Kano state government is giving you automatic employment of teaching. And I have directed the state Commissioner of Education to post you to Tudun Maliki Special Education School,” he said.
Mr Dahuru Abdulhamid Idris, in a report compiled by DailyTrust, has been trending on Social media as one, despite his disability struggled through school but could not get a job.
The report attracted a lot of comments and sympathy from different people of the State Government.
The English/Political Science Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) holder offered to be teaching as a volunteer in a school before luck smiled on him.
He was earlier gifted a house by the Former Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria, Professor Adamu Uba.
