An established Nigerian international, Ashleigh Plumptre, has been crowned player of the month in October.
This followed her performance and goal scoring exploits.
Even as a defender, Plumptre, 25, who recently joined Al-Ittihad from Leicester City, scored three goals for Al-Ittihad ladies.
Despite her exploits, she wasn’t called up for the Super Falcons’ match with the Senior Women National Team of Ethiopia last month in a Paris 2024 Women Olympics qualifier.
The defender played at the England U23 level but has since become a member of the Super Falcons and featured as they lost on penalties in the last 16 of the Women’s World Cup this summer.
In an advanced position, Plumptre would wreak havoc for Al-Ittihad as they dismantled Eastern Flames 3-0 in a Saudi Arabian Women’s League opener played on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
One of her strikes has now picked up the Goal of the Month in the Women’s League in Saudi Arabia.
Plumptre is expected to be in action with Al-Ittihad against Al-Hilal on Friday, November 17, 2023.
Well-known football stars including Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Neymar among others play for Al-Ittihad men club.
While Benzema (France) joined from Real Madrid, Neymar (Brazil) and Kante (France) teamed up with the Saudi Arabia club from PSG and Chelsea respectively.
