Nigerian international and Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi is returning to South Africa Premier League after he secured one year contract with Sekhuhune United.
Akpeyi left the Nigeria league club Warri Wolves and Joined Chippa United from where he eventually linked up with one of the biggest clubs in South Africa- Kaizer Chiefs.
He left the club at the end of last season at the expiration of his contract in July 2022.
Heritage Times HT reports that the lanky goaltender decided to be training with the former Super Eagles goalkeeper Greg Etafia until he was able to secure another club.
According to an update from the country, Sekhuhune United has secured the services of Akpeyi as a free agent on a year deal with an option of another year.
Akpeyi is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the club as they are currently placed 14th on the table having secured only six points from seven games.
He will be officially announced by his new club in the coming days, according to reports from South Africa.
Sekhuhune already have Toaster Nsabata from Zambia and Ali Bangare of Ivory Coast as goalkeepers, and Akpeyi will battle them for no.1 spot.
