Nigerian international, Anthony Nwakaeme, has quit Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor and joined Saudi Arabia club, Al Faiha, on a two-year contract.
Heritage Times HT reports that the Super Eagles winger scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists to help his former Turkish club win 2021/22 league season.
He made a total of 36 appearances for the club last season.
He then decided to part ways with the champion following the expiration of his contract.
Already, the Saudi Arabian club have confirmed that Nwakaeme joined as a free agent and signed a deal until 2024.
“The Board of Directors of Al-Fayha Club, headed by Mr. Abdullah bin Ahmed Abanmi, completed the procedures of the Nigerian winger Anthony Nwakaime in the ranks of the first football team as a free agent for a period of two seasons,” the club said through their website on Friday morning (Nigerian time).
The contract signing ceremony took place at the historic Jabal Munikh Castle, one of the most prominent landmarks of Al Majmaah Governorate, in the presence of the billionaire Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Abdullah bin Ahmed Abanmi.
The former Hapoel Ra’anana and Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel won the Israeli Premier League on three occasions before lifting the Turkish League.
The 33-year old has only one cap for the Super Eagles after he made his debut and only appearance in a 1-1 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria on November 10, 2017.
He had a combined 119 appearances since 2018, scoring 40 times.
Odion Ighalo is another notable Nigerian footballer who currently plays in Saudi Arabia.
He had played for Al Shabab before joining Al Hilal.
