The Nigerian government has reached an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to allow citizens obtain visas for travel to the Arab nation with effect from Monday, July 15, 2024, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris announced.
“Today, an agreement has been reached on that, and effective from today 15th July, Nigerian passport holders are able to obtain visas to go to the United Arab Emirates.
“Details of that will be provided to you latter today when we put out a statement. But I can tell you that the agreement has been reached and effective from today, Nigerian passport holders intending to travel to the UAE are able to do so,” the Minister told journalists at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
Nigerians wishing to learn more about the updated visa conditions from the UAE can visit the country’s website, the Minister added.
Heritage Times HT reports that this development comes barely two years after the UAE slammed a visa ban on Nigerians, arising from protracted diplomatic row with Africa’s most populous country.
UAE national carrier Emirates Airlines had two months ago announced the resumption of flights to Nigeria.
The airline said in May that its daily Lagos-Dubai flights would resume from October 1, 2024.
