A cross section of Nigerians have reacted to the news of Tunji Disu’s appointment as the head of Intelligent Response Team (IRT) after the suspension of DCP Abba Kyari.
Disu a former Rapid Response Commander (RRS) was on Monday appointed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba.
However some Nigerians have continued to speak well of him, while others have been indifferent following previous accolades on the former IRT boss Kyari who seemingly turned out otherwise.
Below are some of their reactions:

Tunji Disu is one of the good guys. Good thing is he’s the one who’s replacing Kyari as Head IRT. The unit could do with the decorum he brought to the RRS in Lagos state.

Recent appointment of DCP Tunji Disu as head of IRT unit in Nigeria Police, is music to my ears. Man’s lofty precedence at Lagos Police RRS unit speaks for itself. I’m rooting for him and wish him excellent service at his new post.

Omooor Tunji Disu honestly said we commited an offence that we should just try to beg them. Although we didn’t get what we expected but I respect him for that. It shows he’s going to be a fair leader and won’t let nepotism get in the way. ❤️

Tunji Disu made everyone like RRS in Lagos. Cops in that department are well dressed, well behaved and professional in discharging there duty.

I once made a distress call to Lagos emergency number 767 in d middle of d night about possible armed robbery in my neighbour’s house following some sounds/noise I heard.
@TunjiDisu1’s RRS came in < 30 mins and kept in touch till they left.
It turned out I misread the situation.
Also, a cross section of other Nigerians are of the opinion that it might still be too early to sing his praises, suggesting that he should be given enough time to prove himself and garner the people’s trust.

This is why I always laugh at people who think DCP Tunji Disu is going to work some magic as the new head of the IRT. It is just such a laughable and naive thing to think. We are talking of a police force that once had its IGP jailed for corruption. Disband the whole thing!
@timisaye
While there may truly be good ones among them, the average Nigerian policeman sees his uniform as a licence to do evil, extort innocent people as well as his fellow criminals and generally enrich himself corruptly. Let’s stop feigning surprise.

Bros, Muhammad Wakil is my exemplary of great policing in Nigeria – you rise to a certain near-top level and then you’re forced out. Those who rise highest in that system are part of it.
Much as I like Tunji* Disu and think he did good work with RRS in Lagos, I hold no hopes.

No disrespect to Tunji Disu, but wasn’t Abba Kiyari placed on a similar pedestal a few years back?
Recall that internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas popularly known as Hushpuppi, had confessed to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), about a fraudulent deal involving the former police boss.
Hushpuppi had alleged that Kyari accepted an N8million bribe to arrest and jail his riva,l Vincent Chibuzo following a dispute over a $575,000 scam on Qatari businesspeople.
Even though Kyari denied being involved in such deal, the IGP recommended Kyari’s suspension by the Police Service Commission over allegations levelled against him.
