Nigerians posted impressive performances for their various clubs in the English Premier League matches on Saturday.
For Fulham, Nigerian international Alex Iwobi powered all through as Fulham condemned Newcastle United to a first defeat of the season.
First, Jimenez put Fulham ahead after a wonderful assist from Adama Traore.
Former Arsenal midfielder Smith Rowe doubled the lead, courtesy of Alex Iwobi’s assist.
Nelson netted the third for the hosts in the stoppage time, while Iwobi’s compatriot Calvin Bassey featured throughout the match.
Another Nigerian Dominic Solanke scored his first goal for Tottenham as they came from behind to beat Brentford in an entertaining game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After going behind inside 30 seconds, Ange Postecoglou’s side hit back to win convincingly and ease any potential unrest after back-to-back Premier League defeats.
Earlier, Chelsea roundly defeated West Ham 3-0 away in the early kick-off for the day.
Liverpool also trounced Bournemouth 3-0, but Manchester United lost points after they were held to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace.
The game between Southampton and Ipswich ended 1-1.
