The 2023 World Athletics Championship is gathering momentum with the best of athletes gearing up to showcase the latest stuff they are made of.
One of them is inform Nigeria’s Long Jump czar, Ese Brume.
Brume who has kept improving with every of edition of the World Championship as well as Commonwealth Games, leaped to fresh glory with the just concluded Golden Grand Prix in Botswana.
At the weekend in Botswana, Brume jumped 6.77m to establish a World-leading record in distance.
The latest feat saw Brume climb to the top of the world list ahead of India’s Shaili Singh’s 6.76m.
In Botswana, she conveniently dusted home girl Marthe Koala who got 6.69m to place second at the event.
Before reigning supreme in Botswana, the Nigerian athlete started her season at the Texas Relays as part of a 4x100m relay team of Annie Tagoe, Nigerian international, Haisha Bisiolu and British international and fellow jumper, Lorraine Ugen, finishing seventh in their heat in 42.07s.
She also competed in the recent 400m at the Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational, Texas, where she came fourth in her heat at 57.31s.
Expectations are now high for Brume who will be preparing to fly higher when the World championship gets underway in Budapest, as from August 19.
