Nigeria will later in 2023 face Ghana, Togo, Benin republic, Niger, Ivory Coast, and Burkina faso in the maiden West After Football Union (WAFU) U20 Nations Cup.
The tournament is scheduled for Ghana between May 20 and June 4.
According to organisers, the competition which will be hosted in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex will see the Nigeria U20 side take on their fellow WAFU Zone B counterparts.
Nigeria’s U20 side also known as the Falconets have dominated the continent over the years.
They have represented Africa at every edition of the U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup, winning the Silver medal twice and finishing in the quarter-final stage of the last edition held in Costa Rica in August 2022.
As more countries from the continent express interest to participate at the global stage, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has now evolved more means of accommodating them.
