The Nigerian Air Force Investments Limited (NAFIL) has unveiled ‘Eagle Wings’, its collaborative movie with Nollywood stakeholders dwelling on the exploits of the military against insurgency.
The event which held at Blue Pictures cinema, City Mall had the film’s lead cast including Femi Jacobs, Enyinna Nwigwe in attendance alongside notable Nollywood influencers like Segun Arinze, legendary filmmaker Izu Ojukwu and Charles Novia in attendance.
Written, directed and produced by Paul Apel Papel, ‘Eagle Wings’ follows the story of an Air Force Fighter pilot who must navigate his way to safety amid an insurgency.
It is also an action war thriller centered around the true accounts of the tragic experiences involving an air force fighter pilot who is caught in the heat of insurgency.
The movie based on true events, stars Femi Jacobs, Enyinna Nwigwe, Yakubu Mohammed, Uzee Usman, and Paul Apel Papel who doubles as both director and writer.
Others are Funky Mallam, Nazareth Jesse, Saeed Mohammed, Abdul U. Zada, Patience Ujah among others.
The late movie veteran, Sadiq Daba, also starred in the film, playing the role of the president of Nigeria. The producers didn’t use fictional names of states or countries in the film.
What’s more, The film is one of the first collaborations between Nollywood and the Nigerian Air Force.
Speaking at the film’s unveiling, Uchechi Nwagwu, NAFIL air vice-marshal, said: “This momentous occasion marks the culmination of an unprecedented partnership between NAFIL and Papel Imag Tech Limited.
“…to bring to the fore an epic tale of the fight for human life, peace, and love of our great nation. Eagle Wings is the first of its kind in Nigeria in terms of technical excellence and realism in the portrayal of the Nigerian military.
“The movie became a reality pursuant to the agreement between the armed forces and the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation on the production of movies to tell the story of the Nigerian military from the right perspective.”
On his part, the movie director Papel said: “I am excited about making this movie at this moment because Nigerians will appreciate how much effort, the military has to go through and the sacrifices they make to ensure we have the peace we are experiencing. We have seen firsthand what they go through and if we begin to appreciate them they will do more.
“In this film, we win this fight so we are going to win the fight in the real life also. We make films to give people hope and in this movie we have that hope, we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
