Nigeria’s representative at the CAF Confederation Cup, Bendel Insurance, are out of the competition after their opponents – Renaissance Sportive de BerkaneRS Berkane of Morocco defeated them 1-0 in the second leg.
The first leg two weeks ago ended 2-2 in Nigeria.
Insurance, Nigeria Federation Cup winners lost 3-2 on aggregate to RS Berkane in the second preliminary playoff rounds of the competition.
How The Return Leg Panned Out
Youssef Zghoudi beat an offside trap early in the first half to score the only goal of the keenly contested encounter.
The visitors fought back in the second half but were unable to find a way back into the game.
Victory for the Orange Boys mean they’ve booked their spot in this season’s Confederation Cup.
Rivers United Encounter
Nigeria’s other representative in the competition, Rivers United, will entertain Burkinaso Faso’s Etoile Filante on Sunday.
The encounter is billed for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital.
The Nigerian side held the Burkinabes to a 0-0 draw in the first leg.
