Do you remember Favour Ofili, the Nigerian athlete who missed out on the 100m race at the 2024 Olympic Games in France?
Ofili has moved on from that disappointing exclusion, caused by some ‘corrupt’ Nigerian sporting officials, particularly those of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), and is dazzling once again.
At Baton Rouge in Louisiana, United States, Ofili opened her 2025 season by running 7.26 seconds to win the preliminary round of the Women’s 60m Olympic Development heat.
She won the women’s 60m dash with a season’s best of 7.26s at the LSU Twilight meet in Baton Rouge, beating Thelma Davies, who came in next with 7.27 seconds.
Favour finished ahead of Thelma Davies, Nigeria’s Rosemary Chukwuma, and Noya Willis, who is not currently attached to any college.
Her continuous impressive performances are a sign that she might be a star to watch in 2025 at the World Championships and other international events.
