Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has escaped death following a plane crash in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital South West, reports indicate.
The private jet operated by Flint Aero crash-landed on Friday night at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, after departing the Abuja airport on Friday evening, the report stated.
The aircraft crash-landed into the bush during an effort to land at about 10 p.m. close to the airport runway in Ibadan.
A security official at the airport who pleaded anonymity on Saturday said while landing, the aircraft derailed the runway, causing a crash into the bush.
There were only two persons on board – the pilot and the Minister of Power, the security official noted while adding that further findings showed that there were no fatalities but the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) says it has commenced an investigation into the cause of the accident.
“The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has been notified and commenced investigation into an accident involving an HS 125 aircraft with Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-AMM belonging to Flint Aero, which occurred at about 08:21 pm (Local Time) on 3rd November 2023,” NSIB said.
