At least nine bandits have reportedly been killed during a rival war over the sharing of accumulated ransom.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan made this known on Friday in Kaduna.
According to him, the incident happened as the groups clashed at Garke Village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Wednesday.
He attributed the source of his information to credible human intelligence and security agencies.
“Intelligence sources had reported that a notorious bandit known as ‘Godon Mota’ stormed Garke village last Wednesday with his gang and clashed with a rival bandit group, leading to the killing of nine members,” he said.
The commissioner further revealed that the acting Governor of the State, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, was excited over the confusion in the bandits’ camps.
“Acting Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, noted the report with thanks, and urged security agencies to sustain pressure towards apprehending criminal elements in the general area.
“Investigations and security patrols are ongoing,” he added.
