The League Management Company (LMC) has slammed Kano Pillars for hooliganism during Saturday’s Nigeria Professional Football League match-day 23 clash with Katsina United at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Irate Kano Pillars fans invaded the pitch in the 82nd minute of the game, also damaging the visiting team bus and carting away valuables.
The game was the first at the Sani Abacha Stadium in over two years, and fans trooped into the arena in their numbers to watch the team play.
However, things turned sour in the 82nd minute as the game remained goalless with few minutes to go.
According to reports, the fans; angry with the result of the game encroached on the pitch harassing players of the visiting team who scampered for safety as the game was abandoned.
Meanwhile, LMC on Sunday fined Kano Pillars the sum of nine million naira and three points have been deducted from their 26 points this season. The team has also been banished to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.
Other punishment include, another 3 points suspended till the end of the season in case of further breach, the Sanni Abacha Stadium Kano banned from hosting NPFL games forthwith, and repairing or replacing the Katsina United FC team bus that was damaged by Pillars fans.
