sThe Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed a corps assistant with its Gwagwalada Division, Illiya Ibrahim for looting of COVID-19 palliatives discovered in a warehouse in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The announcement of Ibrahim’s dismissal was contained in a statement released on Tuesday by the Media Assistant to the Commandant General of NSCDC, Ekunola Gbenga.
A copy of the statement obtained by The Heritage Times reads: “The Commandant General, Abdullahi Gana, has approved the recommendation of the Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee for the dismissal of Illiya Ibrahim of the Gwagwalada Division for joining hoodlums in looting Covid-19 palliatives discovered in a warehouse in Gwagwalada, Abuja.”
The statement explained that the recommendation for Ibrahim’s dismissal was given after he was charged under the public service rule for carrying out an act “related to unbecoming conduct of officers.”
“This disciplinary measure was taken after a series of investigations and deliberations by the junior disciplinary committee and recommendations were made to the management,” it said.
It would be recalled that the dismissed officer was captured in a video carting his share of looted covid-19 palliatives in Gwagwalada, Abuja, while dressed in full uniform.
