Nigeria has been confirmed as the host of the 2025 edition of the Africa Armwrestling Championship.
This was disclosed by the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA) President, Charles Osei Asibey, during a press briefing in Accra, Ghana’s capital.
According to the AFA President, over 20 countries are expected to participate in the championship, which will feature fierce competition across various weight categories for both men and women.
He said: “This event will not only showcase the best of African armwrestling talent but also serve as a unifying platform for the continent.
“Nigeria’s bid was compelling, and we are confident the country will deliver an exceptional championship.”
This marks the first time Nigeria has been granted the right to host the competition.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from 22 to 28 July 2025 and will bring together armwrestling athletes and enthusiasts from across the continent.
Preparations are already in top gear to ensure the championship meets international standards, according to organisers.
