France striker, Olivier Giroud has joined Serie A giants AC Milan for a fee of €2 million, after spending two years at Stamford Bridge.
The 34-year-old joined Chelsea from London rivals Arsenal back in 2018 and went on to win the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League.
During his time at Chelsea, Giroud scored some vital goals, including a spectacular overhead kick against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.
Giroud had penned an automatic one year contract extension back in April, allowing Chelsea to get a fee for the forward in the current window.
In a farewell message to Chelsea and their supporters posted on his official Twitter account, Giroud wrote: “To all the Blues, to my teammates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments.
“I’m starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in FA Cup, Europa League and Champions league have been magnificent. Love Oli G.”
He bagged 11 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions for the west Londoners last season and his transfer means that the striker finally has his future sorted.
After France’s Euro 2020, Giroud quickly shifted his attention to signing for Milan ahead of their pre-season training and now that a deal has been struck, the French man will continue his holiday before moving to Italy.
