Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has surpassed legendary forward Segun Odegbami on Nigeria’s all-time goal-scoring chart with his two first-half goals during Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda on Friday.
The Galatasaray striker was at the end of a lofty free kick from Ademola Lookman, turning the ball home with a perfect touch at the far post to give Nigeria the lead.
He scored another goal just minutes before the end of the first half.
With these goals, Osimhen has moved to second place on Nigeria’s all-time scorers list with 25 goals, now chasing the late Rashidi Yekini’s record of 37 goals.
The match, in which he delivered a spectacular performance, ended 2-0 in favour of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
Their Group C qualifying encounter continues on Tuesday, 25 March 2025, when Nigeria face Zimbabwe in Uyo, South-South Nigeria.
Meanwhile, South Africa’s match against Lesotho ended in a 2-0 victory for the former.
