Nigerian international Victor Osimhen is now among the top performers in the Europa League, having been named the second-best player in the league phase by the sports platform known as WhoScored.
Osimhen’s impressive form continued on Thursday night as he scored his fifth Europa League goal.
Unfortunately, Galatasaray fell short of securing automatic qualification, losing 2-1 to Ajax and finishing 14th with 13 points.
Despite Galatasaray’s failure to advance directly to the round of 16, Osimhen’s individual performance has been remarkable.
He is currently tied for third place in the Europa League’s top scorers list, trailing only Ayoub El Kaabi (7 goals) and Barnabas Varga (6 goals).
Bertrand Traoré of Ajax was awarded the top spot as the best player in the league phase, while Lyon’s Rayan Cherki secured third place after an impressive campaign that saw Lyon finish sixth and qualify automatically.
The rest of the top 10 included players such as Yunus Akgün (Galatasaray), Barnabas Varga (Ferencváros), Dries Mertens (Galatasaray), Darío Osorio (Midtjylland), Hamza Igamane (Rangers), Patrick Berg (Bodø/Glimt), and Pedro (Lazio).
