Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has continued his fine form for Napoli.
The latest of his spectacular show came on Sunday February 5, 2023 when he fired a brace to help his side beat Spezia in the Serie A.
His goals which has now risen to 16 in the league proved supreme in the second half which rounded off Napoli’s 3-0 victory against their opponent.
Osimhen scored in the 68th and 73rd minutes capitalizing on two defensive blunders, duly punishing Spezia at the Stadio Alberto Picco.
Earlier, Khvicha Kvaratshelia had converted a spot kick to put the visitors ahead, breaking the resellience of a stubborn Spezia side.
With the latest win, Napoli thus stretched the points gap on top of Seria to 16 points after 21 matches.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have joined the hunt for Osimhen.
According to the Mirror, the Blues already have France striker Christopher Nkunku lined up for the summer from RB Leipzig.
But the 24-year-old Osimhen is one of the most in-demand players in Europe.
So, Chelsea are ready to rival Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain for the powerful hitman’s signature as they look to continue their big spend under their new co-owners.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was brought in to provide the goals Chelsea have been lacking but he has struggled to replicate the form he showed at Barcelona and has been omitted from Graham Potter’s Champions League squad for the second half of the season.
Napoli want around £100m for Osimhen but Todd Boehly and Co have proved they will pay whatever it takes to bring in the best young talent they can get their hands on.
The Nigerian international began his career with Wolfsburg in Germany before joining Charleroi, Lille and then Napoli.
