Nigeria’s Super Eagles hitman, Victor Osimhen, has continued to reach new heights in his career progression, after he scored 19 goals this season, which enabled his Serie A club conquer Sassuolo 2-0.
The Nigerian football star has now scored in seven consecutive league matches.
The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner, was pulled out with injury concerns, as the visitors however, failed to score in the second period with Napoli opening up an 18-point lead over second-place Inter Milan.
After an electrifying start to the encounter, the visitors took the lead via the boots of Georgian star Kvaratskhelia, as he made a mesmerising solo run before beating the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 after just twelve minutes.
Osimhen then came close to doubling his side’s lead, as he controlled superbly with his chest before taking out two players but his curling left footer struck the post much to the frustration of the away fans present.
The Nigerian was however, not to be denied three minutes after the half-hour mark, as he showed plenty of power in-between two players before beating to the goalkeeper to his near post for 2-0.
In all, football statisticians OPTA have confirmed that Osimhen is the first Napoli player able to score in seven matches in a row in the Serie A in the three points for a win era since the 1994-1995 season.
With his strike against Sassuolo, the 24-year-old has now scored 100 career goals in 197 games, quicker than Argentine legend Lionel Messi (210), Didier Drogba (236), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (245), and Ronaldo (301) games.
