Italian Serie A great Napoli, are preparing an improved new contract for Nigeria’s football star, Victor Osimhen.
According to media reports from Italy, President of Napoli Football Club, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is keen to keep Osimhen despite interests from various top clubs in Europe.
Napoli signed Osimhen for a record €75million from Lille three years ago.
Specifically, he has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich in recent times with the club reportedly demanding €150 million.
However, indications have now emerged that Laurentiis is directly in talks with Roberto Calenda, the agent of Nigeria’s sensational forward, fingered as central in gifting the club its first Serie A championship in 33 years.
Osimhen, 24, who netted a total of 23 league goals this season and is on track to be crowned top scorer in Serie A, is under contract until June 2025.
Few days ago, the Napoli hitman scored up to 47 goals since making his debut in Serie A, making him Africa’s highest goalscorer in the league, one goal higher than that of George Weah, who netted 46 during his playing days.
