The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has named 20 players of the country’s Women basketball team expected to begin camping ahead of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
As part of preparations, the team are scheduled to battle Germany and Puerto Rico in warm up matches.
According to the NBBF, their first test comes up on July 19 when they face Germany at the Uber Arena in Berlin during the Basketball Festival.
Two days later, on July 21, they’ll take on Puerto Rico in a friendly match in France.
The Federation said more friendly matches will be arranged to help put the Nigerian girls in good shape ahead of the Olympics.
Nigeria face Australia, Canada and host France in the group stage of the biggest global competition, where they will target to push to next round haven suffered early eliminations in the past appearances.
Heritage Times HT reports that Nigeria are the African defending champions and have won Afrobasket four times in a row.
