The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has paid a condolence visit to the Family of the slain newspaper vendor, Ifeanyi Okereke, who was shot by his security detail.
He made the visit to the wife and family of the vendor at Kwata village, Madalla-Suleja, Niger State on Saturday with the spokesperson of the house, Benjamin Kalu and some of his aides.
Also at the home of the deceased were members of the Association of Newspapers Distributors led by their president, Benjamin Obute.
The visit comes a few days after an SSS operative shot the deceased while trying to disperse “unidentifiable men” who appeared to cross the speaker’s convoy after he stopped by to exchange pleasantries with the vendors close to the National Assembly.
The Speaker has long identified the aide as Abdullahi Hassan, while the SSS operative has since been detained.
Mr Gbajabiamila had in a statement vowed not let the matter slide, promising that he would cater for the family of the deceased.
It is worthwhile to note that unlike Mr. Gbajabiamila, the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Ms. Dabiri-Erewa is yet to publicly admit her aide’s murder of a young man Samson Jonah or condole with the family of the victim.
The family of Samson Jonah says Ms. Dabiri showed no sympathy as one would expect of a mother and senior government official.
Samson Jonah was killed by a drunk officer attached to Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa in Abuja on the 3rd of October 2020.
Mr. Jonah was shot dead while having his breakfast at a beer parlour by Samanja Johnson, an inspector who was heavily drunk on burukutu, a locally-brewed, corn-based alcohol.
