Following the criticism that trailed Cristiano Ronaldo for providing a weak link in a defensive wall which led to Parma’s only goal on Wednesday night, Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo says he has a decision to make on the Portuguese.
The 36-year-old came under severe backlash from fans last month for turning his back on a free-kick against Porto, which caused Juve’s elimination from the Champions League.
A similar scenario happened in the Serie A as Juventus came from behind to win 3-1 after Parma took the lead thanks to Ronaldo ducking the set-piece.
After Gaston Brugman struck the ball which had gone in between a lined up wall which had Arthur Melo, Rodrigo Bentancur and Weston McKennie, Ronaldo was spotted burying his head into his forearm and managing to jump an inch off the ground.
Alex Sandro became Juventus hero on the night as he bagged two goals. However, much of the post-match discussion focused on Ronaldo.
While Pirlo was asked by Sky Sport Italia on whether he will need to take Ronaldo off the wall duty after seeing him duck under an effort from Brugman.
The Bianconeri boss responded: “Unfortunately these things happen, we will evaluate what to do in the next matches and whether to put him in the wall.”
