The Katsina State Police has arrested a 27-year-old housewife, Aisha Nura, with N2.4m being proceeds of arms supplies to bandits.

Nura, said to be the wife of a bandit, was arrested on July 25 while attempting to board a commercial motorcycle from Batsari to Nahuta village.

The spokesman for Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the arrest on Friday.

According to him, Nura confessed under investigation, that she was sent by her husband, one Nura Murnai, to collect the money from bandits in Kaduna forest.

The police spokesman said the husband, who is on the run, was also a bandit who belonged to the camp of another bandit’s leader, one Abu Radda.

Nura, in a short interview with newsmen at the Katsina police command headquarters, confessed that the money was found on her.

She said in Hausa, “It is true the money was found on me and my husband sent me to pick it from Kaduna”.

Meanwhile, five men were also paraded at the police headquarters on Friday for alleged sodomy.

The men were among the 11 suspects who allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of a 17 year-old-boy.

Isah said investigations were still in progress on the arrests, adding that all the paraded suspects would thereafter be arraigned.
