Italian Serie A Champions, Napoli, on Tuesday sacked Rudi Garcia after a poor start in the current season.
The club management while confirming the latest development in a brief statement via its X handle said, “Società Sportiva Calcio Napoli has decided to revoke the role of Mr. Rudi Garcia as technical director of the first team. Thanks to him and his team for their collaboration to date.”
Napoli also revealed that coach Walter Mazzarri as returned to lead the club.
The club also said, “Walter Mazzarri is the new coach of Naples. Welcome Sir !”
Mazarri returns after a decade to replace Frenchman Garcia, who was dismissed for allowing the team to fall ten points behind league leaders Inter Milan.
Garcia was eased out five months after his arrival in Campania.
Aside the club’s performance, Garcia stay has been characterised by controversial circumstances including issues that led to super star Victor Osimhen who was allegedly mocked after he missed penalty earlier in the season.
Also, his relationship with team players has been a source of concern to both the club’s management and teeming fans.
