President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, to deploy all refurbished tractors to farmers.
The Vice-Chairman of NASENI, Professor Mohammed Sani Haruna, told State House correspondents in Abuja on Wednesday that the directive was in line FG’s assurance to keep a ‘keen eye’ on food inflation in the new year by ensuring food security through mass agricultural activities.
He said the agency has refurbished several tractors at through partnership arrangements.
Professor Haruna said President Buhari was concerned about the state of drudgery and suffering by farmers without modern farm implements.
He listed the achievements of NASENI to include the production of first made-in-Nigeria tricycle, KEKE NASENI, first made-in-Nigeria motorcycle, and first made-In-Nigeria solar-powered electronic voting device.

The Vice-Chairman also revealed that NASENI was currently manufacturing locally-made solar products for the West African market.
He also said the agency had produced an Unmanned Aerial vehicle for spraying of insecticides on farms and surveillance.
