According to a statement released on Thursday by law firm Hamlins, Prince Harry, Elton John, and a select few others have filed a lawsuit against the Daily Mail newspaper’s publisher, alleging phone-tapping and other privacy violations.
The group, which also includes the Duke of Sussex, Elizabeth Hurley, Sadie Frost, Elton John, his partner David Furnish, and Doreen Lawrence, is aware of information suggesting that Associated Newspapers violated customers’ privacy.
They claimed that the publisher bugged private phone calls and installed listening devices in people’s homes, vehicles, and offices.
According to the statement, gunnercooke represents Lawrence, Hurley, John, and Furnish, while Hamlins represents Frost and Meghan’s husband.
In the past, Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have cited media intrusion as a critical reason for their choice to leave the royal family. After getting married in 2018, their relationship with Britain’s tabloid press broke.
The parents of Archie and Lilibet earlier declared they would have “zero involvement” with four significant British newspapers, charging them with providing inaccurate and intrusive coverage.
