Reports from Pretoria, South Africa indicates that Zimbabwean goalkeeper George Chigova has passed on.
This was disclosed in a statement by his club SuperSport United on Thursday.
According to the statement, Chigova died at 32 inside his residence in South Africa on Wednesday.
Initial Health Issues
The Zimbabwean goalkeeper had collapsed during training with his club in July and was placed on leave after he was diagnosed with a health condition.
The highlights of Chigova’s international career include taking Zimbabwe to the semi-final of the 2014 African Nations Cup.
He also played in the 2019 edition of the tournament.
Club Career
His career at a senior club begun in 2010 with Harare Gunners, with some time at Zimbabwe’s most popular team, Dynamos.
The goalkeeper left for SuperSport United after his time at the club of his country home.
Chigova later played with Polokwane City for five seasons in the South African first and second tiers, before reuniting with SuperSport in 2020.
Like Chigova, Like GumboG
His death is barely five days after the passing of former Zimbabwe coach and midfielder Rahman Gumbo.
Gumbo died at the age of 59 after he suffered a heart attack in neighbouring Botswana.
