Kano State religious police force – Hisbah has apprehended 11 citizens caught eating in midday instead of observing Ramadan fast.
Three men and eight women were arrested for eating in the afternoon in the state while others were fasting.
Confirming the arrest to the BBC, the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Aliyu Musa Kibiya said they were investigating those who were not fasting to find out their motives.
In 2016, Francis Emmanuel, was attacked in Kaduna State by some youth for eating in the afternoon during the Ramadan fast. The police investigated the matter but no suspects were arrested or charged.
