Real Madrid on Wednesday night beat Atalanta 2-0 to claim a record sixth UEFA Super Cup in Warsaw.
It was a match which new signing Kylian Mbappe sparkled in his debut for La Blancos, registering first in his name at the club.
The superstar French forward had waited years to play for his dream club even when he was with Paris Saint-Germain.
Before his goal that sealed Atalanta’s fate, Mbappe’s teammate Fede Valverde broke the deadlock from close range for the Champions League holders in the 59th minute after the Italian Europa League winners held their own in the first half.
Madrid’s triumph ensured coach Carlo Ancelotti equalled former Los Blancos coach Miguel Munoz on a joint-record 14 titles won at the helm of the club.
On their part, Atalanta came close to scoring but the Madrid boys eventually took the shine off, with Nigeria man and Atalanta star Ademola Lookman not finding the back of the net.
Lookman scored a historical hat-trick for his side when they faced Bayer Leverkusen in the final of the Europa League.
Those goals ensured that the Italian club won their first ever European silverware.
