Nigeria’s D’Tigress reignited their qualification hopes as they came from behind to record a 67-65 victory against in a 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifier.
The African champions took control of the game in the second quarter to edge out France in a close win on Friday, February 11, 2022.
Having lost their first game 90-76 to China and finding themselves at the bottom of the qualifying group, they took the game to the French side winning the last three quarters 16-10, 21-14 and 19-13, after losing the first quarter 11-28.
It was also a revenge mission for D’Tigress as they lost to France in the group stage of the women’s basketball event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics held in Japan last year.
D’Tigress have now lost one and won one of their two FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifier in Belgrade, Serbia.
D’Tigress now faces fellow African contingents Mali in their last group stage fixture scheduled for Saturday, February 12, 2022.
Victory against Mali will automatically seal a spot for D’Tigress at the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Australia later this year.
