Kevin De Bruyne has revealed what he told his teammate Riyad Mahrez in the build up to the free-kick which handed City the win at Parc des Princes.
Mahrez fired home a 20-yard second-half free-kick against PSG in the Champions League semi-final.
Although, De Bruyne had looked like the favourite to take the free-kick owing to his quality, but the Belgian had given Mahrez the go.
De Bruyne told his teammate that if he was confident in his ability he had no problem with him calling the shot.
“He asked me if he could take it and I said ‘if you believe in yourself take it’,” De Bruyne, who grabbed City’s equaliser, told BT Sport.
“He scored the goal so who am I to say something about that?”
De Bruyne’s strike levelled proceedings after his cross evaded everyone including Keylor Navas to cancel out Manquinho’s goal for the hosts.
“It’s set up in the perfect position. It’s difficult for the keeper because he always expects somebody to touch it,” said the City star.
Pep Guardiola’s side will now take a 2-1 advantage back to the Etihad ahead of next week’s second-leg as PSG would need to score twice to keep their hopes of playing in their second consecutive Champions League final alive.
