Stanley Eguma, Rivers United Head coach who was abducted by unknown gunmen in Enugu has been set free.
Eguma was kidnapped along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway on Tuesday while returning from Gombe to Port Harcourt, after a Nigerian Professional Football League game.
Chief Okey Kpalukwu, General Manager of Rivers United Football Club, Port Harcourt, on Friday told newsmen that Eguma, has been released by his abductors, NAN reports.
Kpalukwu, however, failed to give details of Eguma’s release but said they are grateful to God for his mercy.
“We are grateful to God for His mercy. Our Technical Manager, Stanley Eguma, has been released by his abductors.
“We are happy for his successful release. Our God is gracious,” he said.
Eguma is the longest serving coach in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
He joined the now defunct Dolphins in 2008 and was retained by Rivers United in 2017 after the government merged Sharks and Dolphins football clubs to form a Port Harcourt club, Rivers United.
