The only Nigeria Representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United, fell like a pack of wood in the first leg quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup, as they succumbed to Tanzanian club, Young Africans in Uyo.
The Tanzanian side controlled the proceeding from the blast of the whistle and pegged back the attack line of the Nigerian side.
The away side felt more comfortable on the ball and they were able to control the game, as the first half ended in a scoreless affair.
The Young Africans continued their domination in the half and they got their deserved goal in the 74th minute through the Congolese Striker, Fiston Mayele.
The Congolese Forward, got his second goal a few minutes later to seal the game for the away side.
The Young Africans will host the second leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium next weekend.
On Saturday, Egyptian giants Al Ahly, kept their chase for a record extending 11th title alive, with a 2-0 victory over Raja Club Athletic in the first leg of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League quarter-final on Saturday night.
Mohamed Abdelmonem and Hamdi Fathi, were on target in either half in Cairo to give their side an early advantage, heading into next weekend’s return fixture in Casablanca.
