Former Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr is set to return to coaching, four months after he was sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Rohr was fired in December 2021, just days before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
However, according to reports, the Malian Football Federation have contacted Rohr, and he is among the five coaches shortlisted for the vacant coaching position of the Eagles of Mali.
Rohr has been listed alongside Eric Sekou Chelle, Julien Mette, Patrice Canterion and former Mali U20 Coach Mamatou Kane.
Mali fired Coach Mohamed Magassouba after their failure to qualify for the World Cup.
The 64-year-old Coach who has been in charge of his country’s national team since 2017, was dismissed with all of his staff.
Mali were beaten 1-0 over two legs by Tunisia in their World Cup playoff, giving away a horror own goal in the first leg in Bamako.
Rohr is well versed with the continent, having had stints at Burkina Faso, Gabon and Niger before handling the Super Eagles.
