Cristiano Ronaldo returned to training with Manchester United on Wednesday after being granted compassionate leave ahead of Tuesday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.
The 37-year-old and his partner Georgina Rodriguez announced on Monday that their newborn son had tragically passed away.
Ronaldo was not involved in Man United’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Tuesday, with the Red Devils saying in a statement that the Portuguese was “supporting his loved ones at this immensely difficult time”.
The forward was pictured at his side’s training complex on Wednesday morning, and according to the Manchester Evening News, he completed the full session.
However, Ronaldo’s involvement in Saturday’s game with the Gunners is unlikely to become clear until the club’s Interim Head Coach Ralf Rangnick has his press conference on Friday afternoon.
