Portugese international, Cristiano Ronaldo now ranks as the fifth highest-paid footballer, following his sensational return to his former club Manchester United.
The 36-year-old will reportedly pocket €23milion annual salary on his return to Old Trafford after his 12-year away from the club.
The former Real Madrid star accepted a pay cut to join United and this has affected his ranking in the top ten most paid footballers, according to Give Me Sport.
Paris Saint-Germain’s duo of Lionel Messi and Neymar, as well as Andres Iniesta and Oscar completed the top five highest-earning players.
The ranking is based on players net salary with no bonus or other income considered as pairs Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi tops the list.
While Messi will be going home with a mouth-watering €35m annually, his teammate Neymar ranks second on the list with €30m,while former Barcelona legend who now plies his trade in the J-League, is third, with Vissel Kobe with a yearly income of €25m.
