Cristiano Ronaldo’s cast away armband is being reportedly sold to help fund the treatment of a six-month-old baby with spinal problems.
According to reports, a charity organization which is which is raising money for a six-month-old boy from Serbia with spinal muscular atrophy to undergo surgery, collected the armband from a stadium worker after Ronaldo threw it away.
Ronaldo ripped off the armband and slammed it into the turf in disgust after seeing his last-minute goal disallowed in Portugal’s 2-2 draw against Serbia in Belgrade last week.
The armband, which is blue with the capital letter C in white, will be put on an online auction for three days, Associated Press quoted the group.
Ronaldo’s shot which would have won the game for Portugal late on, was not given by the referee after it appeared to have crossed the line before being cleared away by Aleksandar Mitrovic.
After vehemently protesting with the officials and being booked for dissent, Ronaldo stormed off the field, throwing down the armband in disgust.
Ronaldo’s action on the night seemed to have attracted lots of criticism and right now, it looks like his rash behaviour may have a positive result after all.
