Cristiano Ronaldo’s captain armband has reportedly been sold to an anonymous bidder for $75,000 at a charity auction, as reported on Friday by Serbian state TV.
Recall that Ronaldo walked off the pitch after his goal was ruled out in Portugal’s 2-2 draw with Serbia in a World Cup qualifiers.
While heading to the dressing room before the final whistle, Ronaldo angrily threw down his armband near the touchline.
After the match, it was picked up by a firefighter on duty and given to the charity group.
The organization had put the blue armband up for sale to fund the medical treatment of a six-month-old boy battling with spinal muscular atrophy.
Meanwhile, the process was reportedly disrupted by some participants, who put up unrealistic huge amount.
The fake bidding triggered public outrage with authorities pledging to find and punish the culprits.
