Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko has armed himself with an M16 assault rifle to help defend his country from the Russian invasion.
The pound-for-pound boxing superstar has been pictured with an M16 assault rifle, having joined the Belgorod-Dniester Terror Defence Battalion in his hometown.
Lomachenko is believed to be joining the resistance near the Odesa region in the south of Ukraine.
He took to Instagram just two days ago to call for prayers for ‘the peace of the whole world’.
On his official Facebook page, Lomachenko posted a photo of himself dressed in military uniform with a rifle alongside the caption: “The Belgorod-Dnestrovsky Territorial Defense Battalion has been formed and armed.
Lomachenko is the latest in a long line of boxers to take up arms to defend Ukraine following Russia’s invasion, which began last Thursday.
Earlier, Vitali and Wldamir Klitchsko had announced they would take up arms alongside to fight to defend their country, Ukraine.
