After a disappointing outing with the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, Umar Sadiq continued from where he left off at his club, after he grabbed a goal for Almeria in their 2-0 victory over Ibiza in the Spanish Segunda Division on Friday.
The Rojiblancos took the lead in the 58th minute through Largie Ramazani, who converted from the penalty spot before the 25-year-old Super Eagle scored a stunner in the 90th minute.
Sadiq grabbed his first goal since returning from the continental showpiece when he raced into a cross from Francisco Portillo, before rounding up Ibiza’s defender and then unleashing an unstoppable right-footed effort that hit the roof of the net.
Sadiq has now scored nine goals in this campaign after making 21 appearances and raking in 1714 minutes of play.
The former AS Roma man had a decent game for Nigeria at the tournament, scoring a goal in a 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau in the last round of matches at the preliminary stage.
Sadiq will hope to continue with his scoring run when Almeria visit Malaga for their next league assignment at La Rosaleda Stadium on Saturday.
