Premier League side, Watford have signed Nigerian winger, Samuel Kalu on a four-and-half-year deal from French Ligue 1 club Girondins Bordeaux.
The Nigerian international joins the Hornets for £3.5million and is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday January 19 ahead of a potential unveiling.
Kalu had been on the radar of Watford in the January transfer window, but the club’s Sporting Director Cristiano Giaretta had played down a move for the 24-year-old just last week.
Meanwhile, the former AS Trencin and KAA Gent star Kalu shares the same agent as Watford midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo and would relish the opportunity to link up with his compatriots at Vicarage Road.
The Nigerian international, who has 13 caps and two goals for his country, will be Watford’s fourth signing of the January transfer window.
His move makes him the fifth Nigerian to join the club after William Ekong, Emmanuel Dennis, Maduka Okoye, and Oghenekaro Etebo.
Recall that Super Eagles AFCON-bound goalkeeper, Okoye had signed a five-and-a-half year deal in December which will begin on January 1, 2022.
Okoye signed for an undisclosed fee from Eredivisie outfit Sparta Rotterdam — where he will return on loan until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
