Super Eagles hitman Victor Osimhen on Saturday continued from where he stopped last season to score two goals which propelled Serie A champions, Napoli, to comfortably beat Frosinone 3-1 in the opening Serie A match for 2023/24 season.
It was an encounter which the home side took the lead before Napoli equalised and later subdued them to defeat.
How It Went Down
The defending Champions were threatened in the early minutes of the game when Abdou Harroui scored on the 7th minute via spot kick to hand the Frosinone an early lead.
However, Napoli man Matteo Politano restored parity on the 24th minute before Victor Osimhen gave the champions the lead on 42nd minute.
Later on, the second half saw Frosinone mount pressure against the champions but they were rather shocked on the 79th minute as Osimhen beat the offside track to beat the on-rushing goalkeeper and put the game beyond the reach of the newcomers.
Although the 2023 Golden Boot winner was subbed off in the 81st minute, the champions held on to record their first victory on the opening week of the new season.
Osimhen’s Return To Scoring Goals
Last season, Osimhen won the 2023 league Golden Boot award after scoring 26 goals as Napoli won the league title for the first time in 33 years.
With his early scoring prowess this term, there’s already an expectation that the Nigerian football star will most likely bang goals should he stay put with Napoli.
