After netting his 17th league goal in the current season, Nigeria’s Super Eagles hitman, Victor Osimhen, has now matched Gonzalo Higuain’s record of scoring in six consecutive games in Serie A.
The Nigerian matched the record after his second half goal for Napoli against Cremonese on Sunday.
The former Argentine striker, Higuain achieved the record in the 2015/16 Serie A season.
Osimhen close range finish saw Napoli trounced Cremonese by 3-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium to further extend the lead at the summit to 16 points ahead of second placed Inter Milan.
Across five major leagues in Europe, no player has scored more goals than Osimhen in 2023.
The red-hot striker has scored eight in his last six Serie A games.
Osimhen is currently the leading scorer in the league, after his 18 appearances in this present term.
His performance so far, has placed him in hot demand in the transfer market.
Top clubs from various top leagues across Europe are gunning for his signature ahead summer transfer in 2023.
Among the clubs jostling for Osimhen are Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and PSG.
However, his current club have declared that he is not available for sale.
