Victor Osimhen returned to action for Napoli in their 2-0 victory over Bologna FC in the Italian serie A on Monday.
The striker has been on the sidelines since November, after sustaining a facial injury in Napoli’s defeat against Inter Milan at San Siro.
The injury had ruled the player out of Nigeria’s African Cup of Nations squad and was replaced by Slavia Prague striker Peter Olayinka.
However the 22-year-old made his return on Monday night and helped his team win the game 2-0 at the Diego Maradona’s Stadium.
Osimhen came on in the second half of the game, and he was unlucky not to mark his return with a goal.
The lanky forward came close to making it 3-0 late in the game. He was clear on goal but however delayed his run to beat a defender, before firing wide from inside the box.
Mexican star Hirving Lozano opened scoring in the 20th minute after a pass from North Macedonian star Elif Elmas to end the first half 1-0.
Hirving Lozano doubled the lead in the 47th minute via a beautiful assist from Spain star Fabian Ruiz to end the match 2-0.
The victory moved Napoli to the 3rd spot on the Italian serie A table.
