A former head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Clemens Westerhof, has posited that former international Samson Siasia has the capacity to turn around the fortunes of country’s senior men National team.
Westerhof while speaking to Sports Village Square in Netherlands said Siasia was one of his dedicated players back then in the Super Eagles.
He said, “I called him last month to greet him for his birthday and also to celebrate with him for the end of his five-year ban.”
He said Siasia is just like Stephen Keshi who has what it takes to engineer success.
Westerhof, the author of the famed ‘Golden Generation’ of the Super Eagles made his suggestion following Germany’s Bruce Labbadia turned down the Nigerian job offer.
Westerhof remarked that he was surprised about the choice of Labbadia in the first instance and that the now Mali coach, Tom Saintfiet, a Belgian, who was speculated among the coaches initially short-listed was a better foreign option.
