Crotone forward Simy Nwankwo scored his 16th goal in the Serie A this season as his club fell 3-2 to Spezia on Saturday.
Simy has been one of the stand-out performers for Serse Cosmi’s men in the current campaign and continued his impressive goalscoring form at Stadio Alberto Picco.
The lanky striker scored his 150th goal for the Stadio Ezio Scida giants last week, and did find the back of the net again, but wasn’t to save his relegation-bound club from a suffering their fourth defeat on the bounce.
At a time like this where the Nigerian is doing the needful and also trying his best to bang the goals for Crotone, their defense had really let the team down and with interest coming of late from clubs in Italy and other parts of Europe, it’s unlikely he’ll remain with the team next season.
Simy Nwankwo joined Crotone from Portuguese side Gil Vicente five years ago and with 151 goals already to his name in their colours, if he decides to call it a quit with them now, then he’ll leave as a legend.
The defeat further condemned the Stadio Ezio Scida outfit to the bottom of the Serie A table with 15 points from 30 games.
Simy will hope to help Crotone bounce back from their miserable run of form when they take on Udinese in their next league game on April 17.
